An Oasis in Orlando...
W hen you think of Orlando the first thing that pops into your mind has to be Walt Disney World. And while its still and always will be the greatest place on earth, people I think miss out on some of the other things Orlando has to offer being that they are constantly bombarded with creative mouse marketing.
So imagine my surprise with the Omni Hotels Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate as it appeared out of nowhere, like an Oasis in the desert. I actually had to think for a moment if I was still in Florida.
As I entered the hotels ultra luxurious lobby, I was greeted with an endless view past the pool and 36 hole championship golf course.
My room was spacious, beautifully decorated with a balcony but the best part were the personalized chocolates and treats hand made by the hotels master chefs that were left for me every night!
In the evening it was cocktails at the lobby bar or David’s club, the upscale sports bar with dark woods, comfortable seating and a great menu! For fine dinning, Zen, an Asian masterpiece with innovative sushi dishes or Trevi’s Italian restaurant where the aroma of fresh baked brick oven bread fills the air!
During the day, there is plenty to do at the hotel. In addition to tennis, you can take a dip in pool or just relax in an inner tube and let the 750-foot lazy river take you on your own journey.
And did I mention golf?
The Omni doesn’t just have a golf course. They have two plus a lighted 9-hole par 3 course. They also host the world headquarters of the David Leadbetter Golf Academy, which has some incredible golf pro instructors and some incredible golf technology that will undoubtedly improve your game.
After your day at golf, head over to the ChampionsGate Clubhouse Grille (open for breakfast and lunch) where you can relax and watch an incredible sunset to the sounds of bagpipers.
If you’re looking for an extended stay or even just some extra legroom, ChampionsGate offers two and three bedroom Villas that are very reasonably priced. The Villas, which range from 1543 to 1971 square feet, have all the comforts of home as well as 24-hour concierge service, daily housekeeping and incredible views!
With 720 rooms and suites, the Omni is also a great choice for business conventions and weddings.
At no time did I feel like I was in the countries resort capital of the world, which is exactly want I was looking for. I even tried so hard to spot a glimpse of Disney from the upper floors to no avail. But if you must, The Omni does provide complimentary shuttle service to all four of Disney’s theme parks.
For a weekend get-a-way, extended vacation, or even to visit the mouse, Omni Resort’s ChampionsGate is
