From Victoria BC, Award Winning designer Keith Baker has really out done himself with Armada House.
Built by Abstract Developments, Inc (www.abstractdevelopments.com) Armada is more then just a home, its a sculpted piece of art. I came across this Canadian treasure by shear accident and absorbed the images for so long that I had forgotten what I was looking for in the first place.
Obviously this contemporary home blends steel, concrete, glass and wood beautifully and elegantly. The use of cherry and bamboo adds incredible accents to the home.
What is difficult to see is a five-foot vertical grain Douglas fir pivoting front door that that welcomes guests into a 24 foot high foyer.
There is nothing typical about this house. Each bedroom door has, what appears to be, frosted glass which allows the continuation of cascading light from the homes enormous windows.
Some other features of this 5,299 sq ft home include.
- Rough cut cedar, corrugated 'galvalum' siding, natural finish acrylic stucco
- 2,700 sq. ft. of terraced decks and rooftop patio with expansive views
- Screened arbor & terraced waterfall
- Five-foot pivot fir entry door, low E aluminum windows
- 24' Foyer atrium with curved ceiling and slanted wall
- Jatoba hardwood, oversized honed slate tile
- Bamboo & brushed granite kitchen, counter to ceiling glass. Polished terrazzo eating bar, smoked glass Jen-Air appliances
- Low voltage lighting multi-zoned controls; CAT5 networking; built-in intercom, multi-zoned programmable stereo system
- High-efficiency boilers, in-floor radiant heat, two sided gas fireplace, and non cellulose insulation
- HRV system
- Custom cherry millwork and built-ins
- Japanese soaker tub, slate rain shower / steam room
- En-suite laundry
- Custom cherry office
- Power solar blinds
- Triple garage with in-floor heat
- Temperature controlled wine room
- Home gym
- Media room, vertical grain cherry paneling, 100" projector, hidden access door
